about

Song written September 25, 1962 by 2 ten-year-old kids. The 60th anniversary!! I know because the date was typewritten on the lyrics sheet. No credit given to "St. James Infirmary" - from which chords and melody were "borrowed".

Performed for our 4th grade class at St. John The Baptist School, Abeel St., New Brunswick, NJ on 2 occasions (due to public demand for encore!)
This was about the local candy store two blocks down from the school on Abeel St.

This is from the collection titled "Our Songs We Made Up Ourselves" which also includes the massive Breetles hit: "Sign On The Bridge (Breetveld-Rubinstein)" which dates to 1962. There are still unrecorded/unreleased songs in the book.

this version recorded in West Orange in 2019 just to remember how it went. RIP Jackie L., who made some rather famous M&M commercials in and around that time.

They have been described as the illegitimate flower-child of The Who, The Beatles, XTC, The Kinks, Mrs. Miller and Cheap Trick. Power-pop, cleverly-stupid, quiet is the new loud. ... more
